Preamble

The Mesopotamia, the Cradle of Civilizations, the core of existence of the mankind, that paved the path of life to unfold.  This is the land of Iraq with the Ishtar Gate opened its doors to Sumer, Akkad, Babylon, and Assyria to allow for the world to grow and to develop throughout the history. It gave birth to ancient knowledge of law, philosophies, architecture, science, and literature, which shaped the world we know it today.  Regrettably, in the last several decades, Iraq was flooded in a bloodbath of armed conflicts, where millions of the Iraqi people were destined to be killed, tortured, vanished, displaced, starved, and violated. This is a historical coup d’etat against the Iraqi identity, freedom, liberty and the prosperity of the People. Therefore, establishing the Iraqi National Opposition Alliance is a necessity to reverse what led to such undesired outcome, by establishing a sound and concrete path moving forward towards prosperous and peaceful Iraq. The Iraqi people have the constitutional rights to defend the nation by declaring opposition to unlawful, destructive and malignant ruling of armed groups and their de-facto government.   The Iraqi National Opposition Alliance, thus, will take responsibility to advocate on behalf of the Iraqi people and to bring forward legitimate methods to protect Iraq.  The Iraqi people deserve to live in peace, dignity and in harmony with each other regardless of their race, religion, gender and social and tribal status.   Violence and dehumanization against the Iraqi people will never be an acceptable approach for change.  But rather, we aim to grow a culture of tolerance, respect and law and that no one is above the law, as our heritage of our ancient civilizations had taught the world to be civil.  Accordingly, we would like to mobilize support and collaborate with those who believe in a unified, respected and prosperous Iraq for all the Iraqi people with no discrimination today and for the generations to come. The following principles are the core values of our Opposition Alliance that we respect and uphold now and for the future:

  1. Working to extend bridges of cooperation between key national players and reputable personalities to alleviate the sufferings of the Iraqi people for the last sixty years which led to dramatic deterioration of Iraq as a sovereign nation and the people.
  2. Liberating the country from the Iranian hegemonic interference in Iraq’s internal and external affairs as a sovereign state.  The damages caused by the state of Iran against Iraq are unredeemable; however, the Alliance is determined to bring justice to the Iraqi people.  While understanding the historic relationship between the Peoples of Iraq and Iran, as such that could be maintained under mutually respected boundaries.
  3. Establishing a balanced system of governance where the voice and the rights of people are at the forefront of each authority.   In order to hold the government accountable, the three following pillars must be integrated:
  • Law enforcement that protects the Iraqi people and civilians under all circumstances.
  • Honoring the Martyrs of Great Tishreen (Great October) and represent the patriots of Tishreen in the new government system
  • Civil society organizations, unions and associations including those who promote and protect women’s rights to be engaged in public policy and decision-making processes
  1. Repositioning Iraq as a prominent player in the Middle East region by rebuilding its diplomacy and corporations of economy, culture, defense and security fronts.
  2. Reshaping the relationship between Iraq and the United States of America.   It is a fundamental factor for a lasting peace, that Iraq becomes a dynamic and influential player in the international arena; thus, transforming the American presence in Iraq from its predominantly military and security phase into a comprehensive treaty that entail economic and technological cooperation. By doing so, Iraq be best suited as an Allie to the U.S. under legally binding framework of friendship and joint corporation.  Consequently, this bi-lateral transformation will correct the unintended outcomes since the war in 2003.

These principles represent the spirit of the Iraqi National Opposition Alliance and therefore, all efforts will be made to start a new era of justice, peace, and prosperity for our nation and people.
